Rowena Crest is one of my absolute favorite portrait locations in the Columbia River Gorge. With its sweeping views, rocky terrain and seasonal wildflowers, it always makes an interesting backdrop, especially at golden hour. It wasn't the original plan for Virginia and Jordan's engagement session. We had planned on going to Government Cove (another popular spot in the Gorge), but it was closed for a private event. We had just enough time to drive to Rowena Crest Viewpoint in time for sunset. It was well worth the drive.
If you're planning to have engagement photos done there during peak season, try to go on a weekday to avoid crowds as much as possible. There are no restrooms, so plan accordingly. The viewpoint is located within the Tom McCall Nature Preserve. No dogs are allowed in the preserve.
